Configuring your Outlook 2000 account...

  1. Click Tools.
    • Click Services.



  2. Under Services there are three things that you must have in order to receive mail with Outlook 2000:  Personal Folders, Outlook Address Book, and Internet E-mail. If a service is missing, click Add to add the service. If Internet E-mail is listed, highlight it and click Properties. Skip to Step 4 for Internet E-mail Properties.


  3. This next window is what will appear when you click Add. Outlook Address Book and Personal Folders should be added without changing any of their properties. Make sure you have them both. Select Internet E-mail and click OK.


  4. Under Mail Account type in mail.hcis.net.
    • Type in your full name next to "Name:"
    • Type in your username@hcis.net next to "E-mail address:" and "Reply address:"
      For example: jsmith@hcis.net



  5. Click the Servers tab.
    • Type in mail.hcis.net for "Incoming mail..." and "Outgoing mail..."
    • Type in your username for the "Account name:"
    • Type in your password for the "Password:"
    • Check "Remember password"
    • Uncheck everything else.



  6. Click the Connection tab.
    • Select "I establish my Internet Connection manually"
    • Click OK.
    • Click OK on the next screen.



  7. A window will popup giving you an explanation of what you need to do next.
    • Click OK.



  8. Click File.
    • Click Exit and Log Off



  9. You should now be setup and ready for email with Outlook 2000.
