In the upper lefthand corner of the control panel, look to see if it says "Switch to Classic View." If so, click on "Switch to Classic View." If it says "Switch to Category View" then go to the next instruction.
Double Click "Network Connections."
Click and highlight your Heartland connection.
Click on the File menu.
Click on Properties.
Type in your area code next to "Area Code:"
Type in the dialup number you were given under "Phone number:"
If you need to find your dialup number, CLICK HERE.
Click the Options tab.
Check "Display progress while connecting"
Check "Prompt for name and password..."
Uncheck "Include Windows logon domain"
Check "Prompt for phone number"
See example below for other options.
Click the Networking tab.
"Type of dial-up server..." should be set to "PPP; ..."
"Internet Protocal..." and "QOS Packet Scheduler" should be Checked.
Uncheck all other options.
Click Settings.
Uncheck "Enable LCP extensions"
Check "Enable software compression"
Uncheck "Negotiate multi-link for single link connections"
Click OK.
Click and highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"
Refer to the picture in Step 7 for help.
Click Properties.
Select "Obtain an IP address automatically"
Select "Use the following DNS server addresses:"
Type in "208.248.200.10" for "Preferred DNS server:"
Type in "208.248.200.15" for "Alternate DNS server:"
Click OK.
Click the Advanced tab.
Uncheck "Protect my computer and network by limiting..."
Uncheck "Allow other network users to connect through..."
