Checking IE6 Options |
Checking Internet Explorer 6 Options...
Once you have a dialer created you can check Internet Explorer's options to make sure you are configured to connect correctly. It's as simple as clicking a few buttons and checking and unchecking a few options.
- Click Start and click Control Panel.

Once you have a dialer created you can check Internet Explorer's options to make sure you are configured to connect correctly. It's as simple as clicking a few buttons and checking and unchecking a few options.
- Click Start and click Control Panel.


- Click Network and Internet Connections.


- Click Internet Options.


- Type in www.hcis.net in the box where it says "Address:"
- Click Settings under "Temporary Internet files."

- Select Every visit to the page.
- Set "Amount of disk space to use" to 10MB.
- Click OK.

- Click the Connections tab.
- If you have created your connection you should see the connection listed in the box under "Dial-up and Virtual Private Networking Settings".
- Make sure "Always dial my default connection" is selected.
- Highlight the connection in the box and click "Set Default" if possible.
- Click Settings.

- Make sure nothing is checked.
- Type in your username next to "Username:"
For example: jsmith
- Type in your password next to "Password:"
- Leave the "Domain:" blank.
- Click Advanced.

NOTE: The Advanced button does not appear here in Windows ME. Click here if you have Windows ME and read Step 7.

- Make sure "Disconnect if idle..." and "Disconnect if connection..." are NOT CHECKED.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again on the next screen.

- Click LAN Settings.


- Make sure nothing is checked on this page.
- Click OK.

- Click OK again on the next window.
- Close the Control Panel.
- You should be back to the Control Panel. You are now ready to browse the web.
