Step 1: Setting up the house for Broadband DSL service

The modem and filters pictured above are used to provide Broadband DSL to your home and business.
Each phone jack in use by a phone / fax / or other phone unit will need a phone filter.

The jack that your modem uses does not need a phone filter but if you choose to have a phone by the computer then you will need to use the
Modem / Phone filter. If you choose this route then you will plug your modem into the left (black) jack and your home phone into the right jack.

Step 2: Setting up the Broadband DSL modem and computer

The image below is a diagram of the backside of your comtrend modem

  • The Line jack needs a phone cord plugged into it and then the other end will either plug directly to the wall or to the Modem / Phone filter.
  • The LAN jack needs an Ethernet cable plugged into it and the other end plugs into your Ethernet card on your PC.
  • The last step is to plugin the Black AC adapter into power and plug it into your power strip and turn the DSM modem on with the On / Off switch

On the front of the modem you should see all the lights turn solid green. Make sure to note the ADSL Link light. If it is not solid your modem is not communicating back to our office correctly. When your computer is turned on and communicating with the modem the LAN Link will be solid green. The RX/TX light will blink while the Internet service is in use.
